1. Introduction

Amazon Shopping AI Helper (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a Chrome browser extension that enhances your Amazon search experience by recommending relevant product categories based on your search intent. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to that information.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Search Keywords

When you perform a search on Amazon.com, we temporarily read the search keyword you entered (for example, “improve sleep quality” or “study aids”). That keyword is sent to the OpenAI API in real time to generate AI-powered category recommendations.

2.2 Amazon Search Page Content

To display product thumbnails and links in our overlay interface, we fetch the HTML of the corresponding Amazon search result pages (text, images, links). We parse that HTML locally in your browser and extract only the information needed to build our UI.

2.3 API Key Storage

You must supply your own OpenAI API Key via our settings UI. We store that key securely in Chrome’s chrome.storage.sync area so you don’t have to re-enter it on every search.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Generate Recommendations: We send your search keyword to OpenAI and receive back a list of product categories with explanations.
• Render UI: We fetch and parse Amazon search result pages to display product thumbnails, titles, and links inside our overlay.
• Session Storage: Your API Key is stored only in your browser’s synced storage and is never shared with any third party outside of the OpenAI API call itself.

4. Data Retention

We do not permanently store or log your search keywords, parsed Amazon data, or browsing history. All parsing and recommendation logic happens in-memory in your browser, and no usage data is sent to our servers. Your OpenAI API Key remains in chrome.storage.sync until you remove or update it.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties for marketing or advertising. The only external service we call is the OpenAI API – your search keywords go to OpenAI solely for the purpose of generating category recommendations.

6. Security

All communications to the OpenAI API occur over HTTPS. We never transmit or store your data unencrypted. Your API Key is kept in Chrome’s secure storage area and is not accessible by other extensions or websites.

7. Your Choices and Rights

• Remove API Key: You can clear or update your OpenAI API Key at any time from the extension’s settings.
• Disable Extension: You may disable or uninstall this extension at any time via Chrome’s Extensions page.
• Opt-Out: If you stop using the extension or disable it, no further data will be sent to OpenAI and no UI overlay will appear on Amazon.

8. Children’s Privacy

This extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect when the policy was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
